A humanitarian organisation has provided rental accommodation for 72 internally displaced families in Abuja as part of a broader intervention designed to support vulnerable households affected by insecurity and displacement across northern Nigeria. The initiative, launched under a Rental Housing Support Programme in Abuja, was organised by Afri-mission and Evangelical Network in partnership with World Outreach Ministries International and Ignited Church Lavonia, Georgia, United States. The programme targeted internally displaced persons (IDPs) who had reportedly been living in abandoned structures, incomplete buildings, and informal settlements across parts of the Federal Capital Territory and neighbouring Nasarawa State.

TThe Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has sealed a construction site in Abuja’s Gudu District following the collapse of a three-storey building that killed five people and injured several others. Authorities have also arrested an engineer linked to the project as part of a wider investigation into possible regulatory violations and construction failures. The incident occurred at a building site located behind Gudu Market in the Durumi 3 area of Abuja, where a structure under construction collapsed on Saturday morning. Emergency responders recovered multiple victims from the rubble, while rescue operations continued for several hours after the incident.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the administration is preparing more than 20 infrastructure projects for inauguration as part of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
